Digger Nutter

BA(Hons) Interior Design; PG Cert in Learning & Teaching

Digger graduated from GSA in 2000 with a First Class Degree in Design, and is currently undertaking postgraduate study. Through Digger’s learning and teaching practice he is exploring the use of alternative crit/review formats and other interactions that promote positive learner activities and interactions. Digger is also involved in the development of web based learning platforms and working on the future virtual learning environment at GSA.

Digger’s professional design practice within his own business, slight. He has undertaken a breadth of projects including: production designer for NVA’s The Storr: Unfolding Landscape (Europe’s largest environmental art work in one of Scotland’s most protected landscapes on the Isle of Skye); lead artist and commissioner for Fort William medical centre; public art for Yellowcraig, Scatterlight (programmable dispersed self-contained lighting system) in both urban and rural landscapes; designer and builder of ‘sound scraper’ portable audio recording production and playback units for use in projects to develop consciousness of landscape and place within it; consultant on Drawing for Interior Design (2009 Plunkett). Projects have been funded by NHS Grampian, NHS Highlands and Islands, Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Arts Council.

Digger’s research interests include:Temporary time-based, Site responsive working in the great outdoors, Technology, Pedagogy, Place, Re-appropriation – product bending.
