A concept for a wall construct that can be assembled into any existing interior space, repurposing the function of a building that has lost its original use. The wall system should be a sustainable solution for constructing interiors that are not meant to last forever.

The Nendo proposed project is curated as an indoor vegetation and flower retail space that is influenced by environmental consciousness, ethical concerns and sustainability. The space is made to inhabit indoor vegetation in hopes to form a positive transaction between nature and consumer. Nendo is curated to invite all as they journey through the levels to gain the experience of the store. Nendo is located on Buchanan Street inside the building known as the former BOAC.

Pubfab is a public access fabrication facility in Cowcaddens, Glasgow City Centre. This project aims to create a hub to facilitate the act of making, democratising the equipment
of industry to the common maker. The establishment of makerspaces helps to accommodate those already interested in the culture, as well as providing a space for new makers to explore leisurely labour. I was attracted to this typology by reflecting on my interests in the interior design field, and finding these largely lay in the ‘making’ aspect, both in the design process and in the physical making of an interior.
This has become more apparent to me due to my recent attempts at crafting and DIY, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The prospect of creating a space to host the materialisation of ideas promises to be an enjoyable and fulfilling project. The ‘Maker Movement’, though not new, has seen surges in popularity globally in the past decade, seeing the increasing sprouting of creative ‘makerspaces’ where the likes of hobbyists, inventors and artisans – grouped together under the category of ‘makers’, come together to collaborate and create.

The purpose of this project was to design a modular space that adapts to the needs of a modern family through the passage of time. Adaptive living and modular space distribution complement each other in offering efficient and economic short and long-term solutions to property owners. On the one hand, modern families have often non-conventional structures. On the other hand, globalisation and career-focus individuals are driven towards relocating outside their place of origin. These modern life trends require new space management approaches. The main concept behind the marriage of flexible living and modular space is that any given house has to evolve as if it was another family member. A single-family unit starts small, then grows and last decreases in size. First, when acquiring a property, the owner can split the space into two or more separate smaller living spaces. This way, he/she could for example profit from putting that extra space in the rental market, but also helping others to access more affordable living.

My personal project has encouraged me to learn many different things surrounding the topic of addiction, but most of all it has helped me to realise we as individuals, a society and the world need to change the way we understand addiction. This portfolio encompasses all the research, questioning, analysing and designing that I have explored throughout this project. By utilising my creativity I will take you on a journey through my vision for the UK’s first integrated safe consumption site. I would like to dedicate this work to anyone who has been affected by addiction. I hope it helps raise awareness and provoke conversations of change.

I often see that museums are using technology as a tool to increase engagement. I think this is the wrong
direction. The extended access to these gadgets is not an exciting initiative that makes everything fun, but an essential part
of how we manage our time and collect new information, aka. learning. Although, everything has a website, and all the
museums’ function could be possible in the virtual space through a browser; I thought an application would be a better option
in this particular case. Application means simplicity and a bit more engagement in terms of it can encourage online revisit
more than the browser-based website with an own account.

For my final project in third-year I designed a funeral home. This space contained the standard pieces of a traditional funeral space. Due to COVID this project was cut short and I was left feeling uninspired to continue it.
The inciting incident which made me reconsider this typology for my final year was the passing of my granddad during lock down. Due to the restrictions surrounding care homes we weren’t able to see him before his passing and we also weren’t allowed a funeral afterwards. Not being allowed to participate in or hold such an important event put into perspective the importance of these types of spaces.
When I looked over my third-year work, I felt it didn’t challenge the social and cultural issues of death which we face in western society.
In the UK I feel we have an outdated and rigid way of looking at death, it is still very much a taboo subject. I feel our fear of death is perpetuated by the current funeral industry which works in a profit focused business model instead of a one modelled around empathy, community and compassion.
